Client update June 7th 2022:

You may have heard that there’s been a Google Core Update over the past few days – meaning that Google has updated the way it is looking at websites and there have been some changes in the algorithm.

Firstly, don’t panic. This is something that happens fairly often, and rest assured I’m on top of it. All client websites and rankings are being monitored on a daily basis while we wait for things to settle down.

What does this mean for you?

— If you’re a client of mine for SEO, there’s a bit of work to do. This is included in your monthly fee, and I’ll update you with your weekly or monthly report. It seems at first analysis that Google is putting more emphasis on informational and author led content (eg blogs, whitepapers and guides) so it is worth getting in touch if you don’t have a blogging strategy.

— If you’re a copywriting / blogging for business client there’s nothing to worry about, I’m keeping astride the changes and will of course take them into account when writing your copy.

Another thing worth noting is that a lot of people are stating that they are seeing better results for sites using the newer GA4 Google Analytics system – if you’ve not moved over to this yet it’s worth looking into — contact your web designer / host / whoever is in charge of your Google Analytics account, or drop me a line and I may be able to help transfer you over. You can read more about the new analytics here:

If you’ve been a client for a while, or owned a website for a while, you’ll know that Google does this to keep us on our toes and it’s usually not a massive worry — rankings may fluctuate for a while but once things settle down we’ll have a clearer view of the position we’re in.
