SEO consultant for UK websites

Three decades of experience. Zero corporate waffle.

Has your website traffic fallen off a cliff? Or maybe it’s never properly taken off in the first place? In over 30 years as a UK SEO consultant, I’ve seen it all – from ecommerce giants watching their rankings vanish overnight to corporate websites struggling to outrank their competitors.

The good news? I can fix it. I work with businesses of all sizes to solve SEO problems, whether you’re battling algorithm updates, struggling with technical issues, or just need someone who speaks plain English instead of SEO jargon.

Nikki pilkington, uk seo consultant, sitting in a factory holding a very large cable. Nothing to do with seo, she just loves the shot.
Results, not reports. Plain English, not jargon.

Why enterprise and corporate websites lose search traffic

Big sites have big problems, and most of them are invisible from the boardroom. The traffic graph goes down, the agency sends a longer report, and nobody can tell you in one sentence what went wrong.

“No fancy reports full of meaningless metrics. No monthly strategy meetings that waste your time.”

An algorithm update wiped you out

Rankings gone overnight, no explanation, and everyone’s guessing which of the forty things you changed last quarter did it.

A platform migration went wrong

New site, new URLs, half the redirects missing. Search visibility built up over a decade, gone in a fortnight.

Technical problems nobody’s owned

Crawl budget wasted, pages blocked by accident, templates slowing everything down. Costing you sales every day.

Content that doesn’t match how people search

Thousands of pages written for the product catalogue rather than for the person with a problem to solve.

Reports that hide the problem

Forty pages of impressions and rankings. Not one line about revenue, enquiries or what to do next.

Your team can’t check what they’re told

Agencies and developers say “it’s fine”. Nobody in-house knows enough SEO to say “prove it”.

How a UK SEO consultant can help your business

My approach? I tell it like it is. No fancy reports full of meaningless metrics. No monthly “strategy meetings” that waste your time. Just solid, practical SEO consultancy that gets results.

SEO consulting

Even a stunning website is useless if it’s sitting in Google’s basement. As a UK SEO consultant with 30 years of experience, I make sure your site ranks for searches that bring you revenue, rather than for fancy graphs to show your boss.

They say an SEO consultant can’t master both technical SEO and on-page optimisation. Rubbish. I’ve been doing both since before Google existed, helping businesses from ecommerce giants to corporate brands get real results.

There’s a reason I call my SEO services Non-Wanky SEO.

SEO services

SEO content and copy

Let’s be honest, your marketing team is drowning in content demands. Everyone needs blog posts, landing pages, product descriptions, and they all need to rank well in search. Meanwhile, Google keeps moving the goalposts.

I’ve watched content and SEO evolve from stuffing pages with search terms to AI-powered search, helping major brands and ecommerce sites adapt and thrive through every algorithm update.

Your team’s expertise is valuable. Too valuable to waste trying to keep up with the latest SEO changes. That’s my job. I create content that ranks and converts, leaving your team free to focus on what they do best.

SEO training

Want your team to make confident, informed decisions about your company’s SEO strategy? Whether they’re managing agencies, implementing changes, or handling SEO in-house, they need to understand what matters.

From boardroom strategy sessions to hands-on technical training, I’ll help your team handle enterprise-level SEO challenges. Choose from strategic guidance for senior management, one-to-one training for your SEO team, or self-paced courses for wider team understanding.

No meaningless metrics. No confusing jargon. Just clear, practical knowledge from someone who’s been handling corporate SEO since before Google existed.

What an enterprise SEO consultant works on

The jobs that come across my desk from corporate, ecommerce and B2B websites. Some are a week’s work, some are a year’s programme.

Algorithm update recovery

Working out what the update targeted, what on your site tripped it, and what to change first. Diagnosis before treatment.

Platform migration SEO

Protecting your search visibility when you move platform, change domain or rebuild. Redirect mapping, pre-launch checks, post-launch monitoring.

Technical SEO audits

Crawling, indexing, speed, structured data, internal linking. Findings written so a developer can act on them and a director can understand them.

Search intent research

Understanding what your customers search for at each stage, from working out their problem to being ready to buy, across every market you sell into.

Content strategy at scale

Global content plans, category and product page frameworks, and multi-language SEO campaigns that don’t fall apart at the tenth market.

Ecommerce SEO

Category structure, faceted navigation, product content and the crawl problems that come with a hundred thousand URLs.

AI search visibility

Getting your brand cited when ChatGPT, Google’s AI overviews and the rest answer your customers’ questions.

Agency and developer oversight

Reviewing what your agency or dev team says they’ve done, and telling you plainly whether it’s working.

Board-level reporting

One page. Revenue, enquiries, what changed and what’s next. The graphs are there if anyone wants them.

Why FTSE 100 companies and global brands call me

When major ecommerce sites need to protect their search visibility during platform migrations, they call me. When corporate websites see their rankings vanish after an algorithm update, they call me. When technical SEO issues are costing companies millions in lost revenue, they call me.

  • Consulting through every major algorithm update since the early days of AltaVista
  • Technical depth and content strategy from the same person, so nothing falls between two teams
  • Experience in industries where SEO mistakes are expensive: finance, SaaS, healthcare and enterprise tech
  • Global content strategies and multi-language campaigns, built and maintained across markets
  • Market opportunities spotted because I’ve seen how a dozen other industries handled the same problem
  • Plain English at every level, from the dev ticket to the board paper

How SEO consultancy works with Nikki

No proposal deck, no discovery workshop that’s really a sales pitch. I look at your site, tell you what’s wrong, and we agree what to do about it.

What you get

  • A free audit first, so you know what’s broken before you spend anything
  • Direct access to me. No account manager, no hand-offs
  • Findings and recommendations your developers can act on straight away
  • Content and technical work from one person who understands both
  • Reporting that talks about revenue and enquiries, not impressions

What you don’t get

  • A monthly meeting to admire graphs
  • Junior staff learning SEO on your account
  • A guarantee of rankings. Nobody honest sells one
  • Jargon. If I can’t explain it in plain English, I’ll explain it in plainer English
  • Being sold the biggest package for the sake of it. Ask for the audit and see

Marketing directors and heads of digital who need a straight answer about what’s happening to their search traffic and what to do about it. Some are recovering from an update or a migration. Some want a second opinion on their agency. Some want their in-house team trained so they never need to ask an outsider again. If that’s you, let’s chat.

Free SEO audit for your website

Free SEO audit before you commit to anything

Traffic fallen off a cliff and nobody can tell you why? Send me the site. I’ll go through it, tell you what’s wrong, whether it’s fixable and what it would take. If the answer is “you don’t need me”, I’ll say that too. No proposal deck, no follow-up sales calls.

What SEO consultancy costs

From £750 a month

Ongoing SEO packages start at £750 a month (Foundation), with Growth at £1,500 a month and Authority at £2,250 a month for businesses that want the full content strategy. Enterprise, ecommerce and migration work is scoped from the free audit, so you get a price for the job in front of you rather than a package off a shelf. Either way, I’ll tell you upfront what your website needs and you won’t be sold the biggest option for the sake of it.

SEO consultant questions

What does an SEO consultant do that an agency doesn’t?

The same work, done by the person you spoke to. An agency sells you a senior strategist at the pitch and hands the account to a junior. I do the audit, the strategy, the technical briefs and the content myself, and you get a straight answer when you ask a question. More on freelancer versus agency here.

Do you work with enterprise and corporate websites?

Yes. FTSE 100 companies, global ecommerce brands and major B2B organisations, across finance, SaaS, healthcare and enterprise tech. Big sites have different problems to small ones: crawl budget, faceted navigation, multi-market content, migrations with tens of thousands of URLs. That’s most of my consultancy work.

Our traffic dropped after a Google update. Can you fix it?

Usually, once we know what the update targeted and what on your site tripped it. Start with the free audit. I’ll tell you what I think happened, what’s fixable and how long it’s likely to take. What I won’t do is promise recovery by a date. Nobody honest can.

Can you protect our rankings through a platform migration?

That’s one of the things I’m called in for most. Redirect mapping, pre-launch checks, making sure the new templates aren’t slower or thinner than the old ones, then watching Search Console like a hawk after launch. I also run a separate website migration service if you’d rather I managed the SEO side of the whole move.

Will you work alongside our in-house team or agency?

Yes, and often that’s the best set-up. I do the diagnosis and the strategy, your team or agency does the implementation, and I check it landed. If you’d like your in-house people to need me less over time, my SEO training is built for that.

How do you report on SEO?

In plain English, on as few pages as possible. Revenue, enquiries, what changed this month and what’s next. The rankings and impressions are there for anyone who wants to dig, but the summary is written for the person who signs the invoice.

Where are you based and where do you work?

I’m in the UK and work with businesses across the country and beyond. Most of the work happens by video call and email. Being in Leeds or Cardiff or Aberdeen makes no difference to what I can do for your website.

Let’s get your website working properly.
