1:1 SEO training for UK business owners who’d rather do it themselves than pay an “expert” thousands
You know roughly what SEO is. You’ve read the blog posts. You’ve still got no idea what to do to your own website on a Friday afternoon. An hour on Zoom with me, looking at your site, and you’ll leave with a list. Not a strategy deck. A list.
Book your 1:1 What happens on the call
Why SEO advice never seems to apply to your website
Everything you read is written for someone else’s site. Ten tips for SEO. What Google wants in 2026. None of it tells you which page on your site is the problem, or what to type where.
Vague tips
“Write great content” is not an instruction anyone can follow.
Jargon overload
H1s, SERPs, canonicals, schema. You want to lie down in a darkened room.
Agency quotes
You asked what it would cost and someone said “from £1,500 a month”.
The wrong homework
You’ve spent a weekend on meta descriptions when your page titles were the issue.
Tool paralysis
Three free trials, forty red warnings, no idea which ones matter.
Doing nothing
Because you don’t know where to start, so you don’t.
What an SEO 1:1 session covers
It’s your hour, so it’s whatever you need. Most sessions end up touching a fair few of these.
Keyword research
Where to look, what to ignore, and how to tell a good keyword from a busy one.
Putting keywords on the page
Titles, headings, body copy, without it reading like a robot wrote it.
Internal linking
Which pages should point where, and why your homepage isn’t doing the work you think it is.
Page titles and headings
The bit most people get wrong and the quickest to fix.
Google Search Console
What it’s telling you, and which numbers you can safely ignore.
Content that ranks
What to write next, and what to stop writing.
Redirects and URL structure
The technical basics, explained so you can do them or brief someone who can.
Structured data
What it is, whether your site needs it, and how to add it if so.
What not to bother with
The busywork you can drop, which is often the most useful part.
You probably don’t need an SEO retainer
Most small business websites don’t need someone poking at them every month for £1,500. They need one person who knows what they’re looking at to point at the five things that are wrong, and then someone (you) to fix them.
That’s not how most SEO is sold, because it doesn’t make anyone much money. I’m fine with that. I’ve been doing this 30 years and the people who come back are the ones I didn’t fleece the first time.
- One session. No contract, no upsell at the end of the call.
- Advice based on your website, not a generic checklist.
- Direct answers. If something doesn’t matter, I’ll tell you it doesn’t matter.
- If you do need more than an hour, I’ll say so. If you don’t, I’ll say that too.
What to bring to your SEO session
The more real stuff you turn up with, the more we get done. Don’t tidy anything up first.
- Your website URL (obviously) and the pages you care about most
- Access to Google Search Console, or a screenshot if you’re not sure how
- The keywords or phrases you’d love to rank for
- Who your competitors are, or who you think they are
- Anything an agency or freelancer has told you that didn’t sit right
- The list of things you’ve already tried
- A colleague if you want one. 1:2 is fine at the same price
- A brew. It’s an hour.
Who books 1:1 SEO training
Small business owners doing their own marketing. Marketing managers who’ve inherited the website. Copywriters and designers who want to understand the SEO side for their own clients. Anyone who’s had a quote from an agency and thought “surely not”.
What you get after your SEO 1:1
- A recording of the whole call, so you don’t have to take notes
- Checklists for the things we covered
- A follow-up email with everything we talked about and what to do next, in order
- Homework. Usually quite a lot of it. But you’ll know exactly what each bit is for
What people say after their SEO session
How much 1:1 SEO training costs
One hour on Zoom, recording and checklists included. Most people find one session sets them straight. Some come back monthly, some book another three months later once they’ve done the homework. Your call.

How much do your 1:1 SEO sessions cost?
£200 + VAT per session. Most people find one is enough. Others book one a month or come back in three months or so.
What happens on a 1:1 call?
It’s 60 minutes on Zoom, 1:1 or 1:2 if you want a colleague in. We go through your current SEO and walk through what you can do yourself, from keyword research and where to put keywords, through internal linking and the basics, right up to redirects, URL structure and structured data if that’s what you need. It’s bespoke to you and your site.
Will I have to do lots of work on my website afterwards?
Probably. But you’ll know exactly what to do. You get the recording, a couple of checklists and a reminder of what’s next.
Is it a sales call for a bigger package?
No. If you need more than an hour I’ll tell you, and if you don’t I’ll tell you that. Nobody’s getting a follow-up pitch.
Can I book a session for my team?
1:2 is fine at the standard price. More than that, drop me a line and we’ll sort something.
How do I get started?
Book a slot on the calendar. If you’ve still got questions, grab me on LinkedIn or send me an email.
Ready to sort your SEO?
I won’t pussyfoot around you. I won’t always tell you what you want to hear. My advice will be direct, my observations will be on the nose, and my follow-up email will tell you exactly what to do next. Because that’s what you’re paying me for.
I’m ready to SEO, Nikki!
