For those of you that want to do your own copywriting and don’t want to hire a professional copywriter — a starter for 5.
Not everyone wants or needs to hire a copywriter to write the content for their website or blogs.
Small businesses, one man bands and more can do a perfectly fine job without the need for an ‘expert’.
Here are some tips if you’re writing your own content and worried it’s not enough…
1) Write from the heart
The chances are that you love what you do — let it shine through in your writing. Copywriters spend a long time to sound authentic about their subject — you’re already there.
2) Forget about most SEO
Don’t spend time stressing about SEO, it’s not the be all and end all, despite what people like me will tell you!
Good copy written well will eventually start to rank.
3) But then again, don’t forget about all SEO
It’s worth picking up the basics of on page SEO – but it’s really not rocket science. Keywords, keyphrases, internal linking and titles – learning about these will serve you well.
4) Answer the questions
Use your blog to answer the questions you asked when you were first starting out. Help those out at the beginning of their journey and they’ll remember you later on.
5) Promote your peers – even if they’re in competition with you
If someone you know has written something that answers a question someone is asking, share it. Whether it be on your social media, email or on your own blog. Celebrate other people and they’ll want to celebrate you.
That’s your Bank Holiday starter for 5 – if you like it, please share and help others to benefit too. If you agree, let me know. If you disagree, let me know too. I’m very thick skinned.
