When you write a blog post on your website, make sure it has a BEGINNING, a MIDDLE and an END.
BEGINNING: Introduce what you are talking about, make it personal by relating it to something you or someone you are connected with has experience of, tell the reader what to expect from the rest of the post; make them WANT to read.
MIDDLE: This is the ‘meat’ of your post. Write it, read it, then read it again. This is the place to educate / inform / engage your reader. Use bullet points if necessary – they make things easier to read.
END: This is the money shot. What do you want your reader to do? Contact you? Read another page on your website? Sign up to your newsletter? TELL THEM! Don’t leave your reader with a sense of ‘Now what?’ at the end of your post.
Here’s a free Blog Post Structure document I send to all my As It Is 1-2-1 clients, showing how to put a blog together and how to feature your keywords and phrases. You can also download it as a PDF – Blog Post Structure 2023– to print out and keep by your keyboard.
